PURPOSE:To attain natural three-dimensional display independently of parallax of both eyes of a plain display device by providing a polarized face rotary cell between a picture display device and a lens system and providing a birefringent lens in the lens system so as to form a real image. CONSTITUTION:A light transmitted through a liquid crystal display panel 1 is made incident in a polarized light rotation cell 2. The rotating quantity of a polarized face of an input light is controlled for the cell for each picture element depending on an input signal and the polarized face of the light having contrast information of each picture element transmitting precedingly through the liquid crystal panel is rotated by a prescribed quantity respectively. The light radiating from the cell is refracted at a birefringent lens 3 and a real image is formed. That is, an actual spot is formed to a position according to a depth data for each picture element by inputting a signal generated from the depth data of a picture to the cell to drive it. Thus, when a person observes the display, the display is similar to a result as if an real object being sets of spots were observed and natural three-dimensional display is attained. |
