PURPOSE:To obtain the titled improving agent composed of a component soluble in n-hexane and insoluble in acetone, by treating the oil cake produced in the refining of linseed oil with n-hexane and acetone. CONSTITUTION:The oil cake produced in the refining of linseed oil is dehydrated by mixing with e.g. sodium sulfate or by freeze-drying, etc. The dehydrated product is mixed with n-hexane to extract the lipid component. After removing n-haxane, the residue is added with acetone, and filtered to collected the insoluble component. Acetone is removed from the product to obtain a serum lipid metabolism improving agent containing the acetone-insoluble component as an active component. The acetone-insoluble component is mixed with an alcohol, and fractionated into the soluble component and the insoluble component. Ethanol is removed from both components, and a serum lipid metabolism improving agent can be obtained from the ethanol-soluble component and the ethanol- insoluble component. |
