发明名称 INTEGRATED OPTICAL STRUCTURAL BODY
摘要 PURPOSE:To simplify construction and to enable improvement in the threshold value of an optical damage by providing an electrode pair having a potential difference in proximity to both sides of the luminous flux propagating in an optical waveguide and preventing the generation of polarization. CONSTITUTION:A Ti film is deposited by evaporation on a base plate 8 consisting of a lithium niobate crystal and is thermally diffused at a high temp. by which an optical waveguide 9 is formed. Electrodes 15, 16 are provided on the waveguide 9 and a prescribed voltage is impressed thereto from a DC power source 17. Then the electron excited by a conducting luminous flux 13 does not drift to the electrode 15 side having minus potential and therefore polarization does not arise and the optical damage occurring in the polarization is prevented. The optical damage which is generated even at 0.1mW/mm. intensity in the prior art is not generated even at 3mW/mm. with this device and the threshold value is made >=30 times higher.
