PURPOSE:To improve stability in operation of a spark rod and make a long life of the spark rod by a method wherein the ignition spark rod in a gun type burner is moved to an atomization area or near its area when ignited and moved to a position apart from the atomization area in other cases. CONSTITUTION:In case of ignition in a burner, a solenoid 11 is energized, a spark rod 14 is rotated downwardly around a rotating fulcrum point 12. The spark rod is positioned at the fuel atomization area 6 in front of a nozzle tip 4 or near its area, then an ark is generated and ignition is made. The energization of the solenoid 11 is terminated in simultaneous with the ignition of the burner, the spark rod 14 is rotated upwardly by a return spring 13 and held at a position spaced apart from the atomization area 6. Thereby, a positive ignition can be performed, a thermal influence applied by the flame is reduced after the ignition, and a life of the spark rod 14 is extended. A size between the rods is hard to be varied and a stability of the ignition is increased. |
