A method for controlling and regulating a stepping motor. The stepping motor is intially moved to a specific initial position by means of a current in a specific coil of the stepping motor. The motor is then caused to start in the correct direction by cyclically driving the coils, until the electronic regulation is initiated on reaching a specific rotation speed. <IMAGE>
