摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent reduction of effective track length and to enable a conductive medium to reproduce signals noiselessly by coupling one end of a magneto-resistance effect (MR) element with a ferromagnetic film without exposing the other end to the opposite surface of a recording medium, and forming a bias means. CONSTITUTION:A nonmagnetic conductor 21 is embedded in a notched part 2 of a ferromagnetic, substrate 1 and the notched part 2 is filled with a nonmagnetic material 3. Then, an insulating film 7 and a ferromagnetic thin film 23 are applied to the surface of the worked substrate 1. Then, a ferromagnetic thin film is applied through a nonmagnetic insulating film 22 to form an MR film as shown by number 4. One groove of the MR film 4 is superposed to the thin film 23. If easily magnetizing axial direction of the MR film 4 is defined as E, bias current is made to flow into the conductor 21 and the magnetized direction in the MR film 4 is turned to an M direction of about 45 deg., the magnetized direction is changed around the 45 deg. on the basis of the change of signal magnetic flux. Since the direction of current flowing from electrodes 18, 19 is an (i) direction, the change of the magnetized direction is detected by the current (i) as the change of resistance. Since the length of the electrode is equal to the length of the MR film in said constitution, the effective track length is not reduced in spite of a narrow track. Even if the conductive medium is used, noises due to leakage of MR current are not generated.
