PURPOSE:To obtain the titled catalyst free of coarse particles in good yield without loss of a support, by agitating a catalyst formed by supporting a titanium halide on a specified pulverized support by means of an agitator of a specified structure while maintaining the catalyst in a state of dispersion in an inert medium. CONSTITUTION:A secified transition metal catalyst is obtained by impregnating a support obtained by copulverizing a magnesium halide with an organic compound with a titanium halide and removing uninfiltrated titanium halide by, for example, washing with an inert hydrocarbon. This supported catalyst in a state of dispersion in an inert medium is agitated by means of an agitator. The agitator used in this agitation is one in which the clearance between the stator blade and the rotor blade is 2-0.1mm.. A supported transition metal catalyst free of coarse particles can be obtained in good efficiency. |
