PURPOSE:To reduce the confirming operation of an operator and make it possible that one operator operates plural sets of systems by issuing a signal from an alarm when at least one of preroll points, editing start points, and editing end points of a reproducing machine or editing machine coincides with the values of the current positions of a corresponding reproducing machine and editing machine. CONSTITUTION:First, the editing mode of an assembly or an insert is selected, and thereafter, a reproducing machine 3 is operated to select a required cassette in accordance with pictures and sounds of a monitor receiver 8, and its editing start point (or the editing start point and the editing end point) is registered, and the editing machine 5 is operated to register the editing start point and the editing end point (or the editing start point). If correction is unnecessary as the result of confirmation due to a preview, editing is executed. The reproducing machine 3 and the editing machine 5 reproduce the cassette from the preroll points to the editing start points, and the reproducing machine 3 and the editing machine 5 are synchronized with each other during this reproducing.
