Accelerations to which nuclear fuel elements in caskets have been subjected during transport can be measured by an inertia mass which can slide against the force of a spring on a guide rod which contacts the casket. The mass is wedged in its point of maximum deflection by three spring-loaded balls in inclined holes between the mass and the guide. The wedge action can be released, when the readings have been taken by a collar by which the balls can be pushed up.
|
