PURPOSE:To obtain a compact fluorescent lamp having a high efficiency and a high luminous flux by providing an emission tube, formed by folding a fine glass tube, with a projection working as the coldest area during the lighting of the lamp, and fusing the projection to the inner surface of a spherical transparent encircling case. CONSTITUTION:The inner surface of a spherical transparent encircling glass case 2 is coated with a white diffusion material 3. A small fluorescent lamp consisting of an emission tube 10 formed by folding a fine glass tube twice is installed in the encircling case 2. A top portion of the emission tube 10 is provided with a projection 8 working as the coldest area during the lighting of the lamp. The end of the projection 8 is fused to the encircling case 2. The ends of the emission tube 10 and the opening of the encircling case 2 are fixed to a metallic base plate 11. As a result, the pressure of mercury vapor is maintained at a proper level during the normal lighting of the emission tube 10, thereby obtaining a compact fluorescent lamp having a high efficiency and a high luminous flux. |
