TITLE OF THE INVENTION Both ends-modlfied olefin polymers and processes for the production thereof Polymers of olefins such as ethylene and propylene, having functional groups Introduced into both-the ends thereof, can be provided which are useful as macromonomers for polycondensation. This new polymer comprises a recurring unit represented by the general formula -( - CH,- CHR -) - and having functional groups bonded to both the ends of the polymer and a number average molecular weight of 300 to 500,000, the functional groups being selected from the group consisting of H2C=CH- group and group wherein X is -OH, -OR', a halogen atom or -SO3R2, R1 is a hydrocarbon group of 1 to 5 carbon atoms and R2 is a halogen-substituted or non-substituted hydrocarbon group of 1 to 20 carbon atoms.
