The mechanism is made up from a kit consisting of mounting plates (10) having holes placed at certain intersections of a square or rectangular grid, the grid having at least one spacing between its lines, of the type which contains a mounting unit for each of the shafts. The mounting unit of the shafts is made up of a plate (16) having an extended surface and two fixing units (18,20) which have their axes parallel, but off- centre. The first of the two fixing units being designed to fix the plate onto a mounting plate by clamping one of the extended surfaces of the plate against the larger face of the mounting plate (10), and second of the two fixing units is designed to rigidly fix the shaft (24) onto the plate (16) in a way that the shaft should be perpendicular to the larger face of the mounting plate.
