A PVC container, e.g. for foodstuffs or DIY products sold in supermarkets, has an opening section circumscribed by a scored or perforated line and accessed by cutting a tongue in the edge of the container. Printed instructions and a pictogram on the container indicate where the purchaser should cut the edge of the container with a pair of scissors to make a tongue. The container is then opened by pulling on the tongue.
