PURPOSE: A device and method is to easily recognize the kind of message and to control the computer system by using the communication devices. CONSTITUTION: A device comprises a computer system(10), a data /fax modem(160), a modem interface(150), a voice recognition part(210), a word/voice transferring part(220), an application program(240), a data base(250), a network adaptor(140), an I/O controller(170), a mike(176), and a speaker. The application program(240) includes an e-mail program(242), a facsimile managing program(244), a voice mail box(246) and an individual information managing program(248). The modem interface controls the tone signal made from the telephone line, the voice command, the voice message, and the received data of the facsimile and activates the application program(240) corresponding to each received data. The application program stores the message received from the modem interface(150) and the network adaptor at the data base(250).
