PURPOSE:To make it possible to automatically change over printing control to color printing and black color printing corresponding to a detected result, by mounting a mark corresponding to the ink color of each ink ribbon to an ink ribbon cassette while providing a detector for detecting said mark to a printer. CONSTITUTION:When a color ink ribbon cassette is mounted, color printing can be performed and, when a black color ink ribbon cassette is mounted, a black color can be printed at a high speed. A mark 6 displaying a color ink ribbon cassette 3C or a black color ink ribbon cassette 3B is provided to the ink ribbon cassette 3 in thus constituted printer. In addition, a detector (discriminator) 7 for discriminating the mark 6 is provided in the vicinity of the ink ribbon mounting position of the printer and the control of the printer is selected either one of color printing control and black color printing control on the basis of the detected result. |
