The invention relates to a process for producing a post-formable, thermoplastic-bound wood particle material which can be processed to form mouldings for the furniture, construction and lightweight materials industry. A material is to be provided which, even in the thin-walled form, is provided with advantageous elastomechanical properties. By treating wood particles with a thermoplastic dispersion by a dry process, the material is to be provided with good strength properties and low creep during the production process without the addition of thermosetting binders. The wood particles are treated with 10...40% of polyvinyl chloride and pressed under pressure and heat, pressing being carried out at temperatures above 180 DEG C. The materials can be post-formed as desired by the final user and are preferably intended for material-saving designs in furniture construction.
