PURPOSE:To obtain efficient resistance against an earthquake by providing a gear and a rack between relatively movable two members and alternately placing these mechanisms while providing a slip-off preventing device for said gear. CONSTITUTION:A first lateral quake absorbing mechanism consists of racks 1 fixed to a base plate 7 and gears 2 meshed with the racks 1. And, a frame 3 on which a second lateral quake absorbing mechanism is fixed, is installed on metals 12 which support the gears 2. The second lateral quake absorbing mechanism consists of plural racks 4 fixed to the frame 3 and gears 6 meshed with them. These racks 4 intersect perpendicularly to the racks 1 in two levels. And, a quake-proof object 5 is fixed to metals 12' which support the gears 6. A slip-off preventing device 8 for gears 2, 6 are provided on both sides of the racks 1, 4. |
