The cylindrical grinding drum, in which material is crushed by the interaction of iron balls or rods and axially-extending steel liners, has the lining formed by cylindrical linear segments. Each has a curved base and a bulge of curved cross section in a radial plane through the drum. The liners are connected to the casing the bolts positioned in holes in the liners. The curvature of the bulge, the wear in the vertex and the locus of each bolt head are within given ranges.
