PURPOSE:To always detect the abnormality of tools by transmitting a fault signal to a tool fault diagnosis unit set in a machine interface device by means of a repeating device. CONSTITUTION:When a tool has a defect or an abnormality, both feed and back components especially have a big increment respectively in the cutting component. In this connection, the correlation is made previously obtained between the cutting conditions and the cutting component of a nondefective tool and then stored. In a tool monitor mode the feed of back component of the nondefective tool is estimated from the present cutting speed, feed speed and main component and in accordance with the relation between the cutting conditions and cutting component. This estimated value is compared with the feed or back component that is actually measured. Then the tool is decided as abnormal when the difference of said comparison exceeds a fixed range. |
