PURPOSE:To make a tracking adjustment of a magnetic head accurately by using a medium for adjustment where burst information outputting a specific waveform regardless of a magnetic head position is recorded. CONSTITUTION:The medium for the adjustment is provided with pieces of burst information 30 by which plural burst outputs 40 are generated in outputs 20a and 20b at specific circumferential intervals in addition to the 1st and the 2nd pieces of information 10 and 11 for positioning adjustment which generate cateye outputs 20a and 20b for tracking adjustment. The outputs 40 are at a specific level regardless of the position of the magnetic head as far as the state of the medium is normal, and the abnormality of the medium is detected securely from the variation of the outputs 40 to correct outputs 20a and 20b to an original level value L2, etc., from the variation rate of the outputs 40. Consequently, even when a cateye output varies regardless of the position shift of the magnetic head, the tracking adjustment of the magnetic head is made accurately. |
