A machine, such as a dryer, comprising a vessel 1-6 largely open at the top, but which has to be closed in a sealed manner, receives, by way of closure member, an easily frangible diaphragm 23 which is broken if an overpressure, especially of an explosive nature, occurs. The diaphragm 23 is preferably fixed to the base of a kind of truncated-cone shaped lid 10, capable of being set aside by lifting and rotating about an offset vertical axis, this lid acting as an exhaust nozzle in the event of explosion and being able to be attached by a flexible sleeve 11 to a corresponding duct 12. <IMAGE>
