PURPOSE:To put the neutral point of a high speed roll within a roll bite by controlling the height of an auxiliary roll used for adjusting an biting angle of a strip basing on a signal, outputted from a detecting device for estimating the position of the neutral point of a roll placed at the high speed side. CONSTITUTION:At the outlet side D of rollig rolls 11, 12 whose peripheral speeds are controlled to be V1<V2, a signal 31 of a pulse oscillator 3, provided to a roll 2 for measuring the speed Vs2 of a strip S, and a signal 41 of a pulse oscillator 4 for measuring the peripheral speed of the roll 12, are inputted to an operator 5 to obtain DELTAV=Vs2-V2. In this case, a supplementary roll 9 for changing a biting angle of the strip S is provided to the inlet side E of the rolls, to output a signal 71 corresponding to the difference between a Vf and the DELTAV by comparing 7 the DELTAV with the set value Vf of a setter 6, thereby controlling the position of the roll 9 in the vertical direction by an adjusting mechanism 91. In this way, a neutral point of the high speed roll is kept within a roll bite without changing the peripheral speed of the roll. |
