METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ADDING MOLTEN ADDITIVE INTO MOLTEN IRON

PURPOSE:To adjust easily the amt. of the molten additive to be added into a molten iron and to add the same with extremely high accuracy in the stage of feeding under pressure the molten additive in a hermetic vessel via an inverted U-shaped hollow member to the molten iron by controlling the amt. of the additive to be added with a target value and blowing gas into the hollow member. CONSTITUTION:The molten additive 2 in a hermetic vessel 1 is pressurized by the pressurized gas blown through a pipeline 3 into the vessel 1 and is fed into a molten iron 8 through a hollow member 4 of which the intermediate part is higher than the liquid level of the additive 2. The amt. of the additive to be added is detected with a detector 9 and is inputted to a control device 10 for the speed of addition. The pressure in the vessel 1 is reduced by the output of the device 10 when the set value slightly lower than the target value calculated from the iron 8 component inputted therein is attained. The speed of addition is detected at all times by an electromanetic flowmeter 13. When the amt. of the additive to be added attains a target value, the pressurizing in the vessel 1 is stopped and gas is blown to the member 4 from a blowing means 14 in the inverted U-shaped part of the member 4. Then the additive remaining in the member 4 is forcibly fed into the iron 8.
