<p>In a spring or cushion plate or, in particular, in a valve plate for a plate-type non-return valve the flexing action, performance and reliability is improved by information of flexible guide arms (4) each having a central axis extending as a continuous curve (5), preferably a spiral, and extending at continuously increasing distance from the centre of the plate to thereby minimize stresses therein which hitherto occurred with known plates having straight portions leading via an angled portion to arcuate portions concentric with the centre of the plate. An advantageous effect is achieved according to another aspect of the invention wherein the resilient or flexible guide arms (4) of any desired shape, each preferably having a spiral portion (5) lead to a radially extending portion (6), which each bisects a valve closure (7) and joins therewith in a peripheral region to provide edded length therefor; said valve closure preferably having portions (71) extending radially inwards. </p> |
