PURPOSE:To prevent fading of a yellow dye image due to light and its discoloration and fading in long period storage, and to improve heat and humidity resistance by forming a silver halide emulsion layer contg. at least one of a yellow coupler dispersed into a benzene type high boiling org. solvent. CONSTITUTION:A yellow coupler is dissolved in a high boiling org. solvent of aliphatic unsatd. hydrocarbon or a benzene type compd., and dispersed into a hydrophilic colloidal silver halide emulsion layer. The use of said solvent raises solubility of said coupler, and its dispersion stability in the hydrophilic colloid, and further, improves resistance to discoloration and fading due to light exposure and storage for a long term, etc, and especially, resistance to heat and humidity characteristics, too without deteriorating photographic characteristics of the silver halide photosensitive material having a silver halide emulsion layer contg. such a dispersed coupler. A preferable yellow coupler is represented by formula ( I ) or (II) in which X1 is an org. group; Y is a phenyl group having at least one halogen atom, and a ballasting group; Z is H or a group releasable by the coupling reaction with the oxidized product of a color developing agent; X2 formula (III), R being H or alkoxy; and Z is 8-30C ballasting group. |
