The method and the device according to the invention relate to the continuous casting of hollow bodies made from metals such as aluminium, copper, all types of steels, or other metals or alloys. The method consists in introducing the liquid metal into an annular space between an outer mould and an inner mandrel, the liquid metal being subjected, in the vicinity of the mandrel, to the action of a movable magnetic field which entrains it upwards. This field is created by a magnetic rotor housed in the mandrel, comprising a revolution piece 75 about which is arranged at least one helix 81, made from magnetised magnetic material 78, 79, 80 firmly attached to the rotor by means of at least one binder (shrink ring) 88. The method applies, in particular, to the production of blanks intended for the manufacture of weldless tubes. <IMAGE>
