PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having excellent developed color density, color forming sensitivity and ground brightness and having high practicality, by using a specified ether compound as an auxiliary component, in a thermal recording material utilizing a color forming reaction between a leuco dye and a color developer therefor. CONSTITUTION:An ether compound of the general formula is used.In the formula, R is an alkylene group which has at least one hydroxyl group and may be subst. by an aryl or a halogen. Each of rings A and B is a benzene nucleus which may have about 1-3 substituents, each of the substituents being an alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, alkoxyl or halogen. This compound is highly capable of dissolving a color developer (electron-acceptive compound) and a leuco dye (electron-donative colorless dye) when being heated, and by regulating the melting point thereof, it is possible to obtain a thermal recording material with an arbitrary sensitivity. The melting point is preferably 40-150 deg.C, from the viewpoints of preservation stability and sensitivity of the thermal recording material. |
