The running roller has a roller body (4) made of plastic with a running ring (5). For conducting away electrostatic charges, the roller body has an electrically conductive inlay (10) which is constructed as a wire mesh. Recesses (11) are attached inside the disc-shaped wire mesh in such a way that the two intersecting wire blades extend in the region of the remaining webs (14) at an incline with respect to the web longitudinal axis. In the region of the webs (14), an extension of the inlay (10) in the radial and in the circumferential direction is possible. In order to achieve a corresponding flexibility of the mesh even in the intermediate area between the webs (14), a tongue (15) which is provided with radially directed slots (16) projects into each of the aforesaid recesses (11). In this way, the plastic running rollers which run easily and can be used in particular for hospital beds can reliably be made electrically conductive. As has been confirmed by trials, the inlay (10) readily withstands stresses occurring during the production process despite its good adaptability. <IMAGE>
