The invention relates to a device for influencing the behaviour of animals, in particular dogs, by the effect of sound, in particular ultrasound. The main application of the invention is to stop or prevent the disturbing behaviour of animals when the latter are in an area in which they are removed from the direct effect of humans by sound, or when to require the direct presence of a human would be disturbing. The device according to the invention is characterised by an exciting oscillator unit, which is connected between a signalling device for generating the control signals and a sound or ultrasonic generator, and whose oscillating frequency and amplitude can be set below a maximum amplitude value prescribed for the respective frequency range in such a way that the sound or ultrasonic generator can thereby be excited to produce sound or ultrasonic vibrations that are not harmful to health and whose basic oscillating frequency is variable over a range between approx. 50 kHz and approx. 15 kHz or a lower frequency than 15 kHz.
