The invention relates to an exhaust manifold which is intended for motor-vehicle engines and has a plurality of connection pieces leading to the exhaust ports of the cylinder head. It is distinguished, on the one hand, by the fact that it is an integral sheet-steel tube with local branches and that the connection pieces are welded to these branches. On the other hand, it is distinguished by extensional waves formed directly in the sheet-metal wall of the connection pieces and/or the manifold. As a result, it can be produced at a favourable cost while having a high compensation capacity, can be of light weight construction and is suitable for encasing in a heat and noise insulation. Jackets made of metal mesh, netting or knitted fabric can be shaped onto the extensional waves in order in this way to improve noise damping.
