PURPOSE:To prevent cutting of a gasket and a separator of a battery, decrease the amount of spring back of a cathode can, and obtain an accurate sealing shape by gradually sealing a battery wih a gently oblique lead portion of a pressure cam. CONSTITUTION:An upper punch 4 comes down by lead of a punch guid cam 9 along with rotation of a rotating disc 1, and a forming punch 7 contacts an unsealed battery 20. Then a roller 6 which is positioned upward the upper punch 4 contacts an oblique lead portion 10a of a pressure cam 10 and the upper punch 4 is gradually pushed down. In the position from P to Q, the forming punch 7 bends inward the opening of a positive can, and in the position R, the forming punch 7 moves along a horizontal lead portion 10b for a given time. After completion of sealing, the upper punch 4 is released from the pressure cam 10, and a battery 20 is taken off from the forming punch 7 by a knockout mechanism 8. |
