<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron capture detector (ECD) in which a possibility of contamination of a collector electrode is minimized. <P>SOLUTION: A gas inlet 24 through which a gas to be tested is introduced into a cell chamber 23 and a collector electrode 22 protruding into the cell chamber 23 are disposed in a such a positional relationship that a line extending from the central axis of the gas inlet 24 does not intersect with the collector 22. Such a configuration makes it possible to avoid direct contact of the collector electrode 22 with a flow of gas flowing from the gas inlet 24 at the bottom into the cell chamber 23, thus reducing electrode contamination, sustaining stable performance over a long period of time, and reducing maintenance cost required for washing and replacement. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
