PURPOSE:To obtain the optimum damping force at all times by a constitution wherein a valve adjustable from outside is provided in a piston part so that the change of the damping force is made larger in the extension stroke of the device and smaller in the compression stroke. CONSTITUTION:An upper selective valve 14 and a lower selective valve 15, both of which can be pivoted by a damping force adjusting shaft 18, are provided within a selective nut 11. A plurality of oil holes, the diameters of which are different from one another, are provided on the lower selective valve 15. On the other hand, a plurality of oil holes, the diameters of which are different from one another, are formed along the outer periphery of the upper selective valve 14, which is slidable in the direction of the axis of said shaft 18. A desired damping force is obtained in the extension stroke, because a small oil hole area is formed in combination of the respective oil holes 20 and 21 of the respective selective valves 14 and 15. Meanwhile, a desired damping force is also obtained in the compression stroke, because the upper selective valve 14 lifts up and the respective oil holes 20 and 21 of the respective selective valves 14 and 15 are located in separate state, resulting in forming a comparatively larger oil hole area. |
