PURPOSE:To make both comfortable riding and the stability of driving of a vehicle compatible by varying the dynamic spring constant of an air spring by a method wherein a plurality of communication pipes between the air spring and a surge tank are opened and closed selectively to thereby adjust the effective throttle diameter. CONSTITUTION:The air spring 3 arranged between the wheel shaft 2 and the body 4 of the vehicle is connected to the surge tank 8 by means of communication pipes 6 and 7 and electromagnetic valves 9 and 10 which are controlled by a controller 11 are arranged in the pipes 6 and 7, respectively. Consequently, the effective throttle diameter between the air spring 3 and the surge tank 8 can be changed by opening and closing selectively the electromagnetic valves 9 and 10 in response to the signal from the controller 11 and hence it is made possible to determine the dynamic spring constant and the coefficient of damping of the air spring arbitrarily. |
