A box for keeping video discs comprises a circular disc-shaped bottom part with an upright cylindrical side wall, onto which a circular disc-shaped lid part can be placed, which in the closed state at least partially engages over and encloses with its cylindrical side wall the side wall of the bottom part. The lid part can be connected to the bottom part by a bayonet-like closure. For opening the box, gripping bars are arranged in the region of the outer sides of the bottom and lid parts. In order to ensure that video discs are kept without distorting them in any way, the bottom part (1) is provided on its inner side with a centring core (6), which comprises a cylindrical ring which is concentric to the side wall (4) and is connected integrally to the bottom part, and with an annular bead (7) of lesser height which concentrically surrounds the centring core (6) at a distance. The lid part (16) has on its inner side an annular bead (20) which is concentric to its side wall (18) and essentially aligns with the annular bead (7) of the bottom part (1) when the box is closed. When the box is closed, the mutually facing end edges of the annular beads (7, 20) are at a distance from one another. <IMAGE>
