<p>A substantially cuboidal insulating block 1 for the lining of a furnace has a core and a shell 2. The core comprises a web of refractory mineral fibre mat in which a plurality of folds 3 is formed to define a plurality of parallel adjacent layers 5 extending parallel to the internal surface 4 of the block which, in use, is directed towards the interior of the furnace. The shell 2 comprises a continuous web of refractory mineral fibre mat extending over the said internal surface 4 and two parallel opposed side surfaces 6 of the block. <IMAGE></p> |
