PURPOSE:To effectively increase exhaust efficiency and improve massproductivity by making exhaust processing using an exhaust tube with no amalgamation metal arranged. CONSTITUTION:An amalgam 5 consisting of indium and mercury is supplied after inserting a solid bar 4 into an exhaust tube 2a. Then, the exhaust tube 2a and 3a of a glass bulb 1 are attached airtight to respective heads B and C of an air exhauster A to make exhaust processing inside the bulb mainly through the exhaust tube 3a. After that, the tubes 2a and 3a are chipped off to obtain a bent fluorescent lamp 6. In this instance, the alamgam 5 is arranged only on the tube 2a with no arrangement on the tube 3a. Accordingly, exhaust resistance of the tube 3a becomes substantially small compared to that of the tube 2a, and exhaust processing is done using the tube 3a, resulting in increased exhaust efficiency.
