A seat regulating mechanism for a chair, preferably for a work chair, serves for adjusting the seat angle, the centre of gravity of the seat user (g) in the axis of the chair support spindle being independent of the angle ( alpha ) of the seat surface in relation to said axis. The seat is displaceable along a curve whose centre lies in the centre of gravity of the user. This curve is defined by the equation L .
