Lining of containment sumps for single walled domestic oil tanks

A containment sump (23), esp. for heating or diesel oil, has a liq.-proof lining (11) with one or more pre-fabricated elements (13), at least for the floor. Metal foil (15) sections are cut to the floor shape and given a glass fibre reinforced synthetic resin coat (17) while flat and then placed in the sump (23). The inner walls are then similarly lined. Where the elements (13) abut they are joined by a glass fibre reinforced synthetic resin layer (27). The metal foil (15) is pref. dimpled aluminium sheet. The synthetic resin is pref. epoxy resin 0.7-2, esp. 1-1.5 mm thick and the coating weight is 400-900, pref. 550-650 g/sq.m. The glass fibre fabric has a weight of 300-600, pref. 400-500 g/sq.m. The corners (29) should have fillets (31) with a radius (R) of at least 3, pref. 4-10, ideally 5 cm. Only the edges of the lining (11) are attached to the sump (23), pref. with profiled extruded sections.
