The invention relates to an apparatus for cutting pieces out of a foil, having two rollers which form a pressing gap with one another, said gap existing for the common passage of a strip-steel blank, a stamping counterplate and the foil laid between these two through it. The object on which the invention is based is to design such a device so that its operating sequence is shortened, simplified and facilitated without the machine becoming more complex or expensive. This object is achieved according to the invention by the fact that the punching counterplate - seen in side view - is designed as a circular arc segment, the radius of this segment is substantially larger than the radius of the roller (counter roller) situated on the same side as the segment, and the segment is mounted so that it runs through the roller gap, together with stamping plate and foil, at a speed substantially synchronous with them and with the two rollers.
