PURPOSE:To unify the shift rails into one piece with the same number of speed varying steps as conventional, by providing lock/slide grooves to the shift rail and lock/slide balls which are fitted to the lock/slide grooves over shift forks. CONSTITUTION:A shift rail SR1 connected with a change lever is supported by a gear shift case 2 so that it can be shifted and turned in the axial direction. Then shift forks SF3-SF5 interlocking speed varying gears respectively are fitted to the SR1. The SR1 contains positioning lock grooves 6, 9 and 12 with a shift of phase to the circumference surface. Holding holes 15-17 are provided to each SF. Then lock balls 21-23 are fitted to the lock grooves over the holding holes and pressed to the SR1 by means of springs 27-29. In addition, grooves 7, 10 and 13 having a shift of phase to the grooves 6, 9 and 12 respectively and slide grooves 8a, 8b, 11a, 11b, 14a and 14b are provided to the SR1. When the lock balls are held by the lock grooves and the holding holes, the lock grooves are fitted to the SFs. Otherwise slide balls 33-35 and lock balls 21-23 are fitted to the slide grooves over the SFs. |
