The invention relates to a string made of polyvinylidenefluoride in the form of a stretched monofilament or a bundle of monofilaments which are twisted, braided or otherwise joined together, characterized in that the elasticity of the polyvinylidene-fluoride monofilament, at a pretensioning force in the range of between 170 and 320 N corresponds approximately to that of a natural gut string. The strings of the invention do not show a high attenuation at room temperature and therefore rebound faster; they are, at the same time, more elastic than all heretofore known synthetic resin strings and they do not age as rapidly.
