PURPOSE:To remarkably enhance anti-wear property, by a method wherein metal ion and nitrogen ion are implanted into the surface of a hard metal, cermets or high speed steel by ion implantation and thus treated surface is coated with nitride. CONSTITUTION:Ions of one kind of more of Ti, V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta and W and nitrogen ions are simultaneously implanted into the surface of a hard metal, high speed steel or cermets by an ion implantation method. Succeedingly, the surface hardness of the treated one is increased by coating the same with a metal nitride layer according to an ion plating method to enhance the anti-wear property thereof and to prolong the using life thereof. |
