PURPOSE:To prevent collision of a vehicle, by shiftingdown an automatic speed changer when a distance from the leading car is decreased to below a preset value. CONSTITUTION:When a difference value between distances between cars measured at the preceding time and the present time by a detector 10 of the distance between the cars is at least a preset value determined correspondingly to car speed, vehicle acceleration and throttle opening, an electronic control circuit 20 generates an output to shift down an automatic speed changer 30. In this way, a shift down is performed in the speed changer 30, and an engine brake is strongly applied to prevent collision of a vehicle. |
