The ventilation device includes a round valve housing (3) which has a valve seat (10) positioned around the inner vent hole (4). A valve body (8) mounted inside the housing abuts against the annular seat and has a set of elastic flaps (7) around its circumference which bear against the inner wall of the housing. An outer vent hole (6) is also formed in the housing and this has a carbon filter mounted over it to absorb odour in the exiting gases. When the air pressure in the bag rises it lifts the valve body off the seat, to permit the gases to escape.
