A bait-fish tank consisting of a tank bottom, of side walls consisting of mesh material and of a tank lid with an opening and a movable flap closing the same is to make possible the retention of water, the vitally important element for the bait fish, even when the bait-fish tank has been taken out of the fishing water and also to allow the use of a simple and inexpensive transport vessel, as well as lastly to make it possible to carry out a single-handed operation of the flap. To this end, the invention envisages that the tank bottom (3) is designed as part of a watertight bowl-shaped container (4) which is open at the top and at the edge of which are attached the side walls (6) made of mesh material, which extend as far as the tank lid. The bait-fish tank consequently makes possible the retention of water, even out of fishing water, during transport of the bait-fish tank in a transport vessel which as a result of the design of the bait-fish tank according to the invention can be a commercially available 10-litre bucket. As the flap is pivotable inwards according to the invention, it is also possible to carry out single-handed operation. <IMAGE>
