<p>A cutter for picture frame mats is provided herein. It includes a rectangular cutter base having a planar matsupporting surface. The cutter includes a novel clamping frame having a pair of transverse lateral hinge bars and a novel cutter head guide bar assembly secured thereon, i.e., the cutter head guide bar assembly is pivotally mounted with respect to the transverse, lateral hinge bars. A cutter head is slidably mounted along the guide rod by means of a replaceable bearing block formed, e.g., of OILON, the cutter head having a pair of cutting blades movably carried by the cutter head. A pair of spaced-apart, longitudinally adjustably movably detachable stop means is mounted on the cutter head guide bar assembly to limit to-and-fro slidable movement of the cutter head along the guide bar. The transverse, lateral hinge bars thus enable a user to rotate the cutter head guide bar assembly and the clamping frame between and upright position (at an angle of from 92 - 96.degree. to the plane of the cutter base), and a lowered position (in which the bottom surface of the guide plate is flush with the mat-supporting surface). The clamping frame is selectively deformable to enable downward pressure to be exerted on the guide plate, thereby to grip the picture frame mat. A mat guide system is also mounted on the cutter base to enable duplication and repeating of the same cutting procedures through a series of three steps in a duplication, repeater and groover mounted on a wide rigid central bar is also provided.</p> |
