The measuring apparatus, for example a pH meter, contains a reference voltage source from which a comparison voltage is tapped off in a suitable switch position of an operating switch (1-2) and fed to the indicating instrument (9). This comparison voltage can also be applied via a socket (2) to an external control circuit in order to influence the latter in the same way as if the measuring instrument had received a suitable input signal from a detecting element. <IMAGE>
