In order to be able to carry out height adjustment on the holding rods and an inclination adjustment in a head rest with a frame which forms a free field of vision and is composed of plastic surrounding a rail-like reinforcement, the rail-like reinforcement extends in its lateral sections over a part of its height extension in the direction of the holding rods and forms a sheath-shaped section into which the holding rods reach, the head rest being longitudinally displaceably guided on said rods and/or being mounted on them so as to be capable of swiveling or tilting out of the common plane of the two holding rods.
