PURPOSE:To improve adhesion without any influence of liquid crystal by sealing facing circumferential surface parts of plastic substrate with an internal sealant having excellent liquid-crystal resistance and an external sealant having large adhesive strength to plastics. CONSTITUTION:Counter electrodes for pattern display are adhered to opposing surfaces of upper and lower light-transmissive substarates 1 and 2 made of polyester films and liquid crystal sealed in the opposing gap part. The circumferential surface part of the lower substrate 2 is coated with the sealant 3 consisting of two kinds of the internal nylon sealant 3a which exerts no influence upon the liquid crystal at the inside and the external urethane sealant 3b which has excellent adhesive strength to a polyester film at the outside by screen printing or dispenser coating. Further, the upper substrate 1 is adhered onto the sealant 3 opposingly to constitute an envelope containing sealed liquid crystal. |
